The Briefing

We're informed by our school that we'll report to CHED. Me and my co-OJTs met up at waiting shed near CHED and at 1 o'clock in the afternoon we went to CHED. When we arrive we've meet the Administrator of CHED and he told us that we will be having a briefing with the Director of CHED at 3pm. When the Director arrived, the briefing started immediately.

We were asked to introduce ourselves and to tell what will be our level of expectation in our OJT on their agency. I was the fifth one to introduce myself and this is what I've said "Good afternoon Ma'am, I am Redentor Abrugar, a Student of STI taking up DIT or Diploma in Information Technology. I am expecting that i could share my knowledge in computer and the things that I've learned from STI. I am also expecting that this training would help me improve my skills in computer and in other fields."

After we've introduced ourselves the Director told us what will be our assignment for our OJT. She said "Your training here in our agency will not be on being an encoder or buying some bananas or snacks, here we will treat you like professionals so that this will be a good exposure for you.". I myself was amazed on what the Director had told us. I am expecting this would be a good experience for me and in the future i will be a "Professional".

The Agency

Commission on Higher Education(CHED)

The Commission on Higher Education(CHED)  was created on May 18, 1994 through the passage of Republic Act No. 7722, or the Higher Education Act of 1994. CHED, an attached agency to the Office of the President for administrative purposes, is headed by a chairman and four commissioners, each having a term of office of four years. The Commission En Banc  acts as a collegial body in formulating plans, policies and strategies relating to higher education and the operation of CHED. The creation of CHED was part of a broad agenda of reforms on the country’s education system outlined by the Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM) in 1992. Part of the reforms was the trifocalization of the education sector into three governing bodies: the CHED for tertiary and graduate education, the Department of Education (DepEd) for basic education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for technical-vocational and middle-level education.
